Senegal striker Amadou Sagna has broken Monday Odiaka's record for the fastest goal scored in the history of the U20 World Cup in the ongoing game against Tahiti at the Lublin Stadium, Lublin.
The Cayor Foot starlet needed only 9.6 seconds to open the scoring, breaking the record that former Nigeria U20 international Monday Odiaka had held for 34 years.
Odiaka, then on the books of African Continental Bank FC, scored after 14 seconds as Nigeria began their campaign at the 1985 FIFA U20 World Cup with a 2-0 win against Canada at the Dinamo Stadium in Minsk.
The Flying Eagles finished third in the tournament held in the old Soviet Union, with Odiaka finding the net on three occasions.
Amadou Sagna has bagged the first hat-trick of the 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup, scoring again in the 29th and 50th minute to give Senegal a 3-0 lead with eight minutes left as at the time of this report.
The Flying Eagles will face Qatar in their opening game in Tychy, starting from 1700 hours on Friday, May 24.
